We learned a great amount from our guest speaker Mrs C who traveled to Antarctica as a tourist earlier this year. She shared her experiences and photos with us. We also spoke with 2 women that are currently living and working at the Davis Base in Antarctica. They answered our questions and passed on their experiences.
Year 5 watched a documentary during the afternoon whilst eating popcorn and snow cones… We are looking forward to continuing our Antarctic Adventure.
Thanks girls and we hope that you will share what you’ve learned today with your families.

Dear Yr5,
Your shoe art is very good. I wish I could draw like that. It sounds fun learning about thirst for energy.
Kind regards

Sounds fun! I cannot wait to be in year 5! Looks the best.
Antarctica day was terrific, I learnt a lot and I think the other girls did too. Thank you to the teachers for organising that special day for us, I especially liked talking to Mrs C, Brigid and Alison. i agree with Jess that seeing everyone ready for an expedition was exciting, and the classroom did really feel like Antarctica! It was truly great fun.
Thanks again,
Michelle

Looks like you has a fantastic day. What a great experience especially being able to speak to and hear from people who have experienced Antarctica first hand.
Wow, what a day that was! It was fun-filled with all the activities and speakers sharing their experiences. We were lucky to have Mrs C and two other women share them with us.
It was also amazing to see all of the clothes and characteristics in the room that make it feel like Antarctica. Even the fans were on full blast, to make us colder. I really loved Antarctica Day. We had heaps of fun and also learned lots that will be useful for our unit on Antarctica for the rest of the term!
Jess.
